Distributed Framework for Real-Time Multimedia Object Communication

چکیده
In this paper we highlight major technical requirements for designing and developing future distributed multimedia information system using Internet technology. The key requirements of this system are to allow users to access and search and to communicate multimedia documents consisting of text, audio, video, and image. We emphasize the role of object-oriented technology for information management and real-time communication protocols to guarantee QoS. We present a reference architecture for Web-based real-time distributed multimedia system which integrates enabling technologies including real-time streaming, multimedia indexing and searching, and distributed object manage-

CORBA Lacks Venom
Distributed objects bring to distributed computing such desirable properties of modularisation, abstraction and reuse easing the burden of development and maintenance by diminishing the gap between implementation and real-world objects. Distributed objects, however, need a consistent framework in which inter-object communication may take place. The Common Object Request Broker Architecture (COR...
متن کاملA Framework of Software-Based PBX Services over Internet
Although Internet is a powerful and economical communication vehicle, its poor quality-of-service (QoS) is still the major obstacle for multimedia transport over Internet. Basically, both the high-speed broadband network platform and the effective multimedia application platform are needed to gain and promote the benefit of multimedia services to end-users. The ATM-based broadband network would...
متن کاملA CORBA Framework for Managing Real-Time Distributed Multimedia Applications
This paper presents a real-time distributed multimedia framework, based on the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), that provides resource management and Quality of Service (QoS) for CORBA applications. The framework consists of multimedia components and resource management components. The multimedia components produce multimedia streams and combine multimedia streams generated by...
متن کاملManaging Real-Time Distributed Multimedia Applications
Distributed multimedia applications are characterized by timing constraints and endto-end quality of service (QoS) requirements, and therefore need efficient management mechanisms to respond to transient changes in the load or the availability of the resources. This chapter presents a real-time distributed multimedia framework, based on the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), tha...
متن کاملDeveloping Multimedia Applications with the OMG Streaming Framework
This paper presents an implementation of the OMG (Object Management Group) media streaming framework and discusses how this speciication addresses some key issues related to multimedia communication, such as quality of service, support to multi-party streams, and ability to interwork with other multimedia infrastructures such as the World Wide Web. The OMG standard \Control and Management of Au...
